Morgan + Greg The Sixty-Two Wedding : Madison, GA Wedding Photographer

Morgan and Greg were married on a very windy day in October! Their wedding was at the Sixty-Two in Madison, GA. This was my first time photographing at this wedding venue and it was the best! There are so many beautiful spots for portraits, especially around sunset.

Morgan and Greg met while studying abroad together in Europe through Georgia Tech in the summer 2014. Greg said he noticed Morgan immediately during the pre-departure courses in Atlanta, but they didn’t speak until the first night in Europe: in Paris, the city of love, when Greg asked Morgan if he could tag along with her friends to see the Eiffel Tower. They continued getting to know each other throughout the summer, exploring museums, attending opera concerts, trying new foods, wandering cities at night, and studying together on the group bus between stops (or at least Morgan studied while Greg napped on her shoulder). They always balanced out each other and Greg’s silly antics is what drew Morgan to him in the first place.

Mid-summer when they took a weekend trip to Stonehenge, the rest of the tour group just assumed they were on their honeymoon because it seemed like they had known each other forever, not just 2 months, and indeed they too felt like they had known each other for years because they spent all their time together that summer and knew everything about each other. Morgan still says that summer was the happiest and most exciting time of her life, and very unlike her, she actually didn’t want to go home at the end when all the other students were ready to return to family and friends in the US. Once they returned to Georgia Tech’s campus in August, they made their relationship official, now sure it wasn’t just a summer fling, but built to last. They continued dating through long distance internships in college and even through Morgan moving to Seattle for work full time after graduation. Greg moved to Seattle in December 2019 after 2.5 years of long distance, just in time to spend every waking second with each other for a year once COVID hit, much like their study abroad days. Family commented if they could survive that much long distance and then do a 180 to only see each other, then they could make it through anything!

Morgan’s favorite memory of her wedding day: “It was a mix of walking down the aisle with my Dad and scanning the crowd of all my loved ones together, feeling so loved, trying to etch the memory into my mind by really appreciating the moment, and a more silly memory of when I was dancing in my seat to “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast playing at the beginning of dinner, really feeling the magic of the day fill the room.”

It really was a magical day, and I feel so lucky that I was there to capture every moment at The Sixty-Two. Enjoy reliving the beautiful wedding day of Morgan and Greg!

Morgan wore her mom’s original wedding band with her parent’s wedding date engraved inside (11/15/1980), her mom’s engagement ring (that she wore for 40 years until she handed it down to Morgan last year, which dated back to the mid-1800s), her mom’s gold love knot ring that she also wore on her wedding day, and the Hicky family bracelet that has been worn by family brides since the 1800s. Morgan’s headpiece was borrowed from her sister-in-law Hannah Jester, who used it on her wedding day also. So many sweet mementos!
