FAQ

Best newborn photographer Madison Social Circle GA, lifestyle newborn session in your home

WHAT IS YOUR SHOOTING STYLE?

For weddings, I shoot in a photojournalistic and modern style. Reception and getting ready pictures will mostly be candid. Portraits are posed/semi-posed. I just want to capture you naturally, enjoying your day! For newborn sessions I capture more lifestyle type portraits in your home, with some directed posing.

HOW MANY PICTURES WILL I RECEIVE?

For weddings, you will receive between 400-800 high-resolution images {it all depends on how big/long your wedding is and how many photographers there are}. For portrait sessions for will receive 30+ high-resolution images. For mini sessions you will receive 15 chosen from your online gallery.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

I use all Professional Nikon digital equipment. I have 2 Nikon d700’s with a variety of prime and zoom Nikkor lenses {my favorite is the 85mm 1.4}. I use a SB910 and SB900 flash and the Pocketwizard system with SB600s. I also have plenty of back-up equipment, so don’t worry… you’ll be covered!

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR US TO GET OUR PICTURES?

For a portrait session, it takes about 2-4 weeks. For a wedding, on average it takes 6-8 weeks. It will be well worth the wait!

DO YOU TRAVEL FOR WEDDINGS & PORTRAIT SESSIONS?

Yes! Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. I will travel to any destination to capture your special day or portrait session. Granted, you will need to provide for my travel and lodging costs if we get too far away from Conyers, GA! Anywhere over 40 miles from my home incurs a travel fee.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR OUR SESSION?

This is a great question! The first thing I tell clients is to not be too “matchy matchy”. Leave the white shirts and blue jeans at home, and instead bring some color and personality to your session. Layers, accessories, props- they are all welcome! For the fashion challenged, pick a color or two {like shades of blue and green} that you can all accent with! For most sessions there is the option of a wardrobe change. If you aren’t quite sure, bring a couple of outfits and I’ll help you pick out what is best! {Also, check out “What to Wear Wednesdays” on the blog for outfit tips!}

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A NEWBORN SHOOT?

All newborn sessions are done in the newborn baby’s home. Go ahead and get together any props that you might want me to use during the session {blankets, baskets, hats, vintage chairs, your baby shoes from when you were born, you get the idea}. I will bring some of my own things, but I love using items that are meaningful to you. Before I arrive, turn the heat up a little bit so that the house is nice and toasty for our session. We want the newborn to sleep through the session, and trust me, this helps! Make sure the little babe is fed and down to his/her diaper for when I arrive. I like to start with the nude photos and then work from there. I’ll scope out a room with lots of natural light and set-up camp there. Have some towels and burp clothes handy to help clean up any messes, because there will be messes! Newborn sessions are the longest lasting sessions of all {sometimes 2 hr+}. I’m very patient and allow for as many snuggle breaks as you {and baby} need! Check out this post for more hints on preparing for your newborn shoot!

DO YOU OFFER PRINT, ALBUM, AND CANVAS ADD-ONS TO PACKAGES?

Yes I do! They can be bought a la carte, simply ask for our pricing sheet!

HOW DO I BOOK MY WEDDING/PHOTO SHOOT?

If you think you are ready to make the decision, I will send you a contract and invoice online. Just read it carefully, sign it electronically, and pay your 25% non-refundable deposit, and I’ll put you on the calendar!

HOW SOON SHOULD I BOOK?

It is smart to book as soon as possible! For weddings, I normally am full 4-6 months before the date (sometimes a year in advance for the busier months like April, May, and October). For portrait sessions my weekends normally fill up about 3-4 months before the date. Week days are more flexible and I reserve me week days for baby package and newborn sessions. I only take a limited amount of newborn sessions a month, so make sure to book as soon as you are ready to insure that you get your desired spot on my calendar!

DO YOU OFFER MINI SESSIONS?

Yes I do! Twice a year I offer Mini Sessions (once in the spring and once in the fall). This is a specific date at a specific location and you sign up for a time slot. To make sure you don’t miss out on any announcements about mini sessions, email me and I can add you to my email list!
